Here is my 300 point army list
I'm using the yari infantry to engage larger enemy troops and smaller cavalry units. The yumi samurai are shooting at long range on close combat elite units, protected by the yari units in front of them. The daisho yumi is running with them. The dai-katana samurais are used for attacks on the flank of the enemy with the hata-jurushi. The duelist and the buke hero are free elements and should kill enemy heroes and leaders!
Please tell me your thoughts! Pictures are coming..."soon"

I think it's a good army, we want to see photos!

Really nice army. maje shure the Yumi Samurai do the job as much as you can, they are killing machines. You will be very pleased when your Dai Katana samurai get in combat... they are killing machines

.
And the Samurai warriors are really tough. They can stop any enemy unit and control the center of the table.
Well done!

Also I have detected some mistakes in the army when I have loaded it, I will fix all of them this evening and I will update it (yesterday I fixed some bugs as well).
Thanks for sharing!

Yeah I'm sorry, I'm a really slow painter, especially when it comes to non-plastic miniatures!
But the dai-katanas are almost finished so stay tuned!

Yeah I really like them! They look so dynamic! The outlook of that unit forces you to let them charge and throw them into close combat!
But to me it's pain in the ass that they don't wear any mempo, bare faces are hard to paint (for me at last)!
I really want to see your army by the way!
A list AND pictures!

Are the No dachi samurai really that great? Unless I'm missing something, they gain an extra die against shorter swords (i.e. katana and wakizashi) and need a ki ability to get the +1 to damage roll, whereas the katana samurai get +1 to damage roll from the katana by default.
As of the current rules, the no dachi samurai feels like a slightly inferior version of the katana samurai, strangely enough.
In my mind, they should be more vulnerable but also more "killy" samurai shock troop.

Samurai Katana are better than No - dachi samurai indeed. The Katana is the most powerful weapon in the game (we wanted that as long as it is the classic samurai weapon). Behind this Katana samurai, would be the No-Dachi Samurais, which are not that good but are a really strong unit against any troop.

But using nodachi-samurai especially with their ki-ability against a katana samurai unit seems to be a good plan. so katana samurai may be an allrounder, but could be counterd with a nodachi-samurai unit!

Here is a real quick list I just threw together as a ball park army to try when I eventually get the miniatures and assemble them.
And also, what points value do players usually play at? 300p,600p? or 1000p? Just wondered.

I got 300, with ks order coming around I will go up to 500 points, but I got an extra list for 400p. Thats my range at the moment..
and I think 500 is a good value for playing. I will add some miniatures in teh future (omnyouji and some creatures of course

) but thats enough for an army.
I want to start another one after that (not sure which one yet), so I can use the common troops in my first army too, if it comes to larger games

thats my plan so far!.

OK. I think 500p is a good entry point to begin with. With getting the Undead character as a KS exclusive I'm tempted to do a small undead army at some stage.

30 yari ashigaru... Really hard to kick off the table hehe.
We use to play 400 points using only troops. If we decided to use an onmyjoji we use to play 500 or 600 p
I think the tournament standard (like an example of 2 hours game with no army defeated) will be around 400 - 600 points. Less than that the battles use to finish at turn 3 or 4. Too many casualties hihihi

Quality is not the finest, I'm sorry !
I always struggle with faces and some details are still missing!
Basing I will do when all units are finished!

Yeah I know !
It was my first guess too, but I wanted to do something completely different!
And in every other tabletop I have at least one red army

Really great looking army.
Nice idea for the red. That way, we can't see them bleeding.
